Where you want the largest possible panes of glass rather than the widest possible opening, an ALUNA sliding patio door is often the better answer.
The system we supply
Slim Sightlines, Bigger Glass
ALUNA is the aluminium sliding patio door system supplied and installed by WGS Glazing. We specify it with the slim 50mm interlock only.
A sliding door keeps its glass in place when open — one or more panes slide behind the others. That means a fixed pane always remains, so a slider will not give you the fully clear opening a bifold can.
In return you get fewer frame lines, larger panes and an uninterrupted view when the doors are shut. For many homes that is the more important of the two.

- WGS supplies the ALUNA system with a slim 50mm interlock only — the vertical line where the sliding panes meet stays discreet, so the view is barely interrupted.
- Large panes of glass
- Sliding doors use fewer, wider panes than bifolds, which means more uninterrupted glass and more daylight when the doors are closed.
- Nothing folds into the room
- The panes slide behind one another rather than folding back, so nothing projects into the room or onto the patio.

Sizing
Maximum pane sizes depend on the height of the door, the weight of the glazing and the number of panes. Achievable sizes are confirmed at specification and survey — we will tell you what your opening can take before anything is ordered.
